Actually, my main concern is NOF, and all the Adobe stuff... I dunno, I think the initial excitement is wearing off.

I just don't know what other company, with a super duper pc package, would be the best?!

Oh, heck, I get the two confused. I'll go check in on a couple of places and see what they have to say. ...but yeah, make sure your aps will run; I'm thinking your stuff is loaded up a bit on the video side, and that's where some of the problems are likely to occur.

Apologies to my friend (love you patti!!) but I'd like to take both macs in this house, anchor them to some concrete and chuck them in the lake. I love my Dells though. So much so that I have.... runs off to count... six of them! There are not words for how much I despise the iBook. I actually sold a Dell laptop to get it and I regret it so much. What hardware is proprietary in a Dell? I only buy servers and mold them into what I want. Everything in them seems to be easily obtained from Tiger Direct or any other store.

weeeeeeellllll..... Don't know anything about Parallel - though, ask Dan because he keeps up on that "fringe" stuff more than I do.

Not sure what kind of problems you're having with the Dell, but, before you jump with both feet on the Bootcamp thing, double check that all of your PC software will run on it. Seems to me I remember hearing that certain apps don't work right due to some kind of switching thingy majiggy thing. (Dan, where the hell are you???)

Michelle... don't be intimidated. Go to an Apple store, lay hands on one. You won't feel that way for long. ;-)

Hmm. I've decided that for Christmas, I'm getting myself a new computer, and wanted to go with Dell. However, you're the fourth person I've read that had less than stellar reviews of them. Shoot. I'm kind of intimidated by the Mac, because I've used them so little. I'm interested to see how it works out for you though!

I was also reading about... umm... "Parallels" ? Not related to the Boot Camp tho, right? Don't think I read great stuff about it.

Can't keep this pc, or it would defeat the purpose.

Well, we shall see what happens.

dropping off some advice...

The main reason I won't go with the dual OS is because there is no "fast" switching. IOW, if you need to take a quick look at something on Win IE, and you're currently in Mac, you have to reboot into Windows to do what you want to do. Not real convenient for proofing - or accounting. It would mean tens of reboots per day.

My advice: go ahead get the mac, keep your current PC, network them. Build up your mac software library over time. ;-)

**Warning**
Your PC will begin to suffer from neglect and curse at you when you're not around. heh.
