I guess when they sold to Getty, maybe? The files I had were nixed for being too small, which is ok - but they had been pretty popular, it seemed, so it was kind of a bummer to see that happen. I understand, they wanted to switch to larger vector formats - no big. But then the money I had made from people downloading my stuff disappeared, then reappeared, but in a much smaller amount, and I couldn't just convert it to photo credits like I used to. Following that, the price of each photo/file went up. But, how could we complain, when comparatively, the prices were still uber uber cheap? Things just seem to have gone downhill in increments for the last few years. I'm sad to see this happen. (well, for obvious reasons: stock photos are expensive to buy elsewhere; but for this long-harbored, dinosaur feeling that once upon a time, there were things on the web that just were for the sake of being, and not everything had to be a commercial venture, and sometimes, there could just be communities of designers, artists, illustrators, photographers, who got along peachily and shared what they had to share and didn't complain about not getting lots of money in royalties...)
