I want to decorate for real

August 4, 2009 Leave a Comment

What I mean is that I am really in the mood to move around on my feet and carry big pieces back and forth, use a hammer and nails, shove furniture around and sweat. To loud music. I want to get physical (yes, I hear the song now too). But alas, I can’t. Realistically.

  • I need to do it when no one else is around. You know how that is, don’t you? I don’t want DIL sitting there watching every move I make the entire time.
  • Money. A big part of what I want to do is hang some of my prints. But I can’t afford to get them framed (still).
  • Work. See above. I need to work to get the money to buy the frames.
  • Money. Yes, this is a big one so I listed it twice.

Ever since we remodeled our home (the living room version on Flickr) I still have not done anything else to the room(s). There is something weird about that to me. But, it is what it is. I will someday.

But what I seriously need to do is go upstairs and take inventory of all of my prints. I’m a little nervous about the Mark Ryden print and whether it’s ok having been in the same packaging for the last… 5 (?) years. Nope, never even opened it. :::sigh:::

OH well. Such is life. I get this way every couple of months. It will pass. I think the reason for my current feelings is that we’re planning on having the house re-sided, so I’ve been looking around at photos of siding. I want to get the scalloped siding on the dormers, you know, like a gingerbread house. Then the colors. Colorsolorscolors. Of course hubby will have a pretty big say on this one. The inside of the house was pretty carte blanche for me, but the outside is more his baby, ya know?

Hey, I gotta go… what the hell, it’s 10:00 already! The day is half over!!

Happy Anniversary Woodstock!

Last day of vacation and I spent it cleaning out deep corners of my pc, rearranging files and then playing with some fun graphics for awhile.

I created a new graphic set for FullMoon Graphics… poor dear, neglected pretty much since November. It’s teetering on crashing once again since I haven’t exported it into the latest version of NetObjects… as a matter of fact, it’s about 2 versions behind. That will have to wait until my next vacation, whenever that may be.

ANYway, most of you must know by now that I l-o-v-e Woodstock. I love everything that it stands for. For the music, for the era… for the clothes (yes, the clothes). So I played with hippy-trippy tie-dyed patterns and flowers and peace signs. Heck, there’s even a matching desktop, although given the “busy-ness” of the patterns, chances are you won’t see a single icon on your desktop with this wallpaper!

So check it out dude! Enjoy.
Peace, luv & coffee!

finally awake

December 12, 2008 1 Comment

My routine in the a.m. is to make my coffee and get things ready for the men, which includes setting hubby’s cup out and even putting the schmutz in it as he likes (way too sweet for me). When my pot was done brewing, I filled my cup, fell asleep with my eyes open and filled hubby’s cup too. Then I stood there wondering what just happened. Wouldn’t have been so bad if I could drink his… so that was silly. Probably should have headed back to bed right about then.

I’m usually not into photography that much… oh, I appreciate it and admire beautiful work, I just don’t seek it out. This fella does some incredible things – fascinating to me.

Anyhooo… now that I’m awake, must do some work. Hubby’s taking me shopping today. woowoo! and if I’m good, I may even get lunch.

To my artsy-crafty visitors

November 16, 2008 6 Comments

I just finished a site, the International Fiber Collaborative, whose founder – Jennifer Marsh – covered an entire abandoned gas station with fiber-ish panels submitted from people all over the world. It’s kind of hard to describe, you’ll have to go n’ see, BUT now she has another project in the works where she’s asking for *leaves*. The plan is to build a huge tree with about 30,000 leaves from artists, crafters, kids, teachers… it’s pretty amazing.

So the reason I’m mentioning this is because I know that many of you *do* this sort of thing, you know, fiber, artsy-crafty stuff. Just go see what I’m talking about – when you see the pics and read the press etc, it will make more sense.

Yay Packers!!

little step-by-step

Colin interview in Advanced Photoshop magColin Johnson is a friend and long time client of mine. Advanced Photoshop Magazine recently published an interview with Colin along with a step-by-step presentation of how Colin creates his collage work. You can check out photos of the process on Colin’s flickr page. Dang. I think the worst part for me would be cutting all of the teeny-tiny bits n’ pieces out of wherever he gets them from, ya know? Check it out.

As far as my contest to win the blinds thing? I think the holiday got in the way yesterday. If I don’t get an email notification, I didn’t win – that’s fine. But I want to see who did! So I’m waiting for their site to be updated, and it’s driving me a bit buggy. Oh well. so it goes.

Ok, must kiss hubby bubbyee and watch him ride off to work. First time in over 2 yrs, not to mention first time back at a job he did 30 yrs ago. In fact, he reminded me that the last nite he spent there working, he got a phone call from me to get his ass home ‘cos the baby was coming! Yup, little Jennie was ready to rock n’ roll out the door!

So I’ll c’yall later – don’t forget to check out Colin’s collage process pics.
