shovel and dispose

May 12, 2007 3 Comments

I am procrastinating. Trying to get myself in the mood to go through allll of the kitchen cupboards and the dining room to get rid of anything that I haven’t used in the last… mmm… year? This is the week the work begins on the upstairs bathroom and the kitchen. I’m excited and dreading it at the same time.

Hubby talks smart and says to just get rid of EVerything. If we need it, we’ll buy new ones. Ya, right. He talks smart, but do you know how long it takes to accumulate some of those oddball utensils, and cupcake tins (do you know how long it’s been since I made a freakin’ cupcake??). But I suppose he’s right.

Purple Heart is picking up the dining room table this week too. That has definitely gotten plenty of use. I got it from my mom how long ago, so it has seen better days. blahblah. I must get in the mood here folks.

Did I show you the completed downstairs bathroom? The photos are kinda weird looking ‘cos I had the heat lamps on for the pics – just seemed to show everything better, although they also look a little more orangey than the bathroom really is. It also doesn’t look like that big of a deal because I didn’t take any “before” pictures, which would have been much more impressive if you had seen how icky messy the old version was. Anyhoo, here they are.

Maybe I should go out, drive around the block, get a Starbucks, then come back home all motivated n’ stuff, yes? OH, know what else? Yesterday on my way to save lives, I was a tad early getting to Starbucks with a few minutes before they opened… well, as I was sitting there, one of my Barista friends walked out with a Venti cup o’ brew, came to my car, and proceeded to hand me the cup. “Here ya go. You just take half n’ half, right?”
Wasn’t that so sweet?? I had to get out anyway ‘cos I needed to add some Equal, but that’s just about the best customer service I’ve had in a long time! They’re so good to me. ((love for Starbucks))

Ya, think that’s what I’ll do. There’s also a new (not new-new, but relocated) art gallery moving in around the corner. Gotta drive by and take a peek – that’s pretty darn exciting to me too. whooppeee.

Ok, ok, I’m outta here – c’ya! And Happy Mom’s day to all if I don’t see you tomorrow!!

Lookie what I got!

Jim Flora Album Cover - all mine!!

I’m so excited… the album cover is the highly coveted artwork of the late, great, Jim Flora. My fav one as a matter of fact. And you know what’s really weird? About a month or so ago, I received an email from Irwin Chusid, who is the author of Flora’s groovy books and maintains/preserves Flora’s web site, wondering if I would like to do an interview with him, since I obviously admired Flora by putting him numero uno on my link list. And now this! yay! Must add this to my “need to get framed” list (btw, I was going to the frame shop this week, but it’s been raining and I don’t want to get the artwork wet – honest).

ANyway – that’s my excitement for the day (yes, stay tuned for that interview!). Now I must tend to my spag noodles. Which reminds me – did I ever tell you that my mom used to throw spaghetti noodles at the wall, and if they stuck, they were done cooking? Weird, huh.

c’yall later

Rosie is one of the loosest dogs I have ever known. Wherever and however she lands in a spot, her legs pretty much go in any direction… and frequently not very *lady-like* either. Of course my photography abilities never seem to catch the moment as it appears, but tonite she was just chillin’ and sittin on the couch – just looked so damned cute.

Take a look. But, like I mentioned, something is just lost in a freeze frame, ya know?

Know what else? I’ve been to etsy a few times here n’ there, visited Lori’s page, looked around at mostly jewelry things. Tonite I got hung up on shops with their prints and original artwork – oh dear! I couldn’t tear myself away from there! “One more page, just one more than I’ll stop…” I wound up buying 2 little prints from Ashley… they’re just so cute to me, had to have them. Besides, I needed a litle variance in the size of my artwork around here, and yes, I’m still in the process of framing my current print collection – really.

These are the two that I purchased… awwww…

Ashley Goldberg art

I’d better go to bed early tonite I think. Now that the downstairs bathroom is still in mid-transformation (no toilet), hubby came up to pee last nite and caught me reclined & snoring at the desk – whoopsie. 4 a.m., tsk tsk. ‘sokay, I’m pretty sleepy and had a longish day. Wouldn’t hurt me to get more than 4-5 hrs sleep once in awhile, yes?

Okee doke,  later kids.

Every time I read the newest issue of HOW, I get mixed feelings… inspired, envious, wishful, motivated, and sometimes bummed out.

When I get bummed out, it’s usually because there’s soooo much that I wish that I could do. Not wishful that I had the ability to do *it* necessarily, but that I would take the time to learn something new. Pursue my knowledge, just take the time to do so. Places to go and things to learn – all things Adobe… Photoshop TV, NAPP (I keep my membership, but I certainly could take better advantage of all of the great info), and Layers Magazine, although I have explored the Photoshop CS3 Beta release – all I can say is wow. I want to be able to move around Illustrator as I do in Photoshop. While I do read many of the tutorials, it’s just not the same as having someone teach me in person, ya know? I know, I know, take a class or something… but that’s my point – I never follow through! It’s always a great idea in my head, but when it comes down to actually going & DOing, I don’t.

Anyway, I know I could if I really wanted to, I just wish I would get off my butt and do it!

Did I ever tell you that Jennie always says that I’m the ideal consumer? The marketers dream? Just another example of this fact, still going through HOW magazine, and read about these Andy Warhol watches – ooo! gotta have one! or House Industries Girard Alphabet Blocks – OH, they would look so cool in here on my book shelf, and I could rearrange them n’ stuff… what the hell? I don’t even care for Warhol that much, and like I have an extra $100 for a set of building blocks. geesh.

But the coolest thing that I read tonite, was a little snippet about Mahar Drygoods, a site established by Robert Mahar and that sells a whole bunch of unique kid’s stuff… but the most exciting thing to me as I read about it, besides being already familiar with the site, is that Aeolidia was mentioned as the creator of the web site, and Jen Corace the illustrator. Why is that you ask? I love love love Aeolidia. Arianne is my hero when it comes to customizing shopping carts for her clients. Man-o-man, she rocks!

So. That’s the poop this evening. OH, I should show you a pic of psycho dog that I snapped today.

 Lucy Girl

Don’t let the innocent look fool you!
I’ll also be updating the baby’s page a little later – she’ll be 8 mths old tomorrow. wowsa.

Alrighty everyone, have a great MondayMonday, k?

upgrade mania

March 27, 2007 Leave a Comment

oy. Adobe CS3 is almost upon us… although to upgrade the premium package is less than it was last time, and now it includes Flash, which the last one didn’t… OHhhh, I see, they divided them up a little different – no InDesign this time in the package I usually get. That’s just as well ‘cos since I don’t do Drive Online any longer (‘member?), I don’t really use it anyway.

I’m sleepy, but I must do my homework. Yes, I have homework. It’s that class that I’m taking Tues. nites. Of course, nothing like waiting until the last minute – that’s me!

Hubby and I are picking out the tiles for the bathrooms tomorrow – yipeee. I’ll give you the full report then, k?
(whoopee, I know)
