clean clean

I actually made a couple of backup discs of a few photo CDs that I purchased – yes, really (I’m bad at doing that). While I was waiting for them to finish, I cleaned out all of the kazillion magazines that have been taking up space in here for… well, 2 yrs I guess.

I don’t know why I save old magazines… especially “How” and “Print” and CommArts (which I don’t get any longer… not all that useful if you ask me). Seemed kind of sacrilegious to throw them out though, ya know? So I just stuck ’em in my trunk, and lo-and-behold, my Starbucks lady took them. Cool, huh?

Saturday is Get Rosie day! Another life-as-we-know-it change. It is, really. I remember when we first got Dolly. It was the first time we had a big dog, and she was a challenge. Very stressful at times… it was like having a new baby, only worse! Well, this time should be different. My cabana boy will be here all day to guide her little ass in the proper direction right from the get go. “Cabana boy?” That would be my dear retired hubby… my Cabana boy.

Anyway. I wish I had an idea whether anyone is going to do that design thingie for ABS. It’s making me nervous that no one is going to submit anything, ya know? Guess I’ll just have to wait and see. Hmm, I wonder if no one plays along, and I do a design, if I can win the goodies? ;)

Ok then. Back to work. I’m working with a new client who makes baby dolls. They look  totally like real babies! It’s kind of creepy actually. Unbelievable.
Alrighty, c’yall later.

It’s a contest!

Hi guys. Guess what? I’m having a little design contest over on ArtBeat Street. Ya, just for kicks, but you could win a very cool prize if your design is voted the fav. Take a look and go for it!

I’ll c’ya later. Just wanted to let you know about that… need to get a little more work done and call it a day. xoxo

Thought I’d take a break. I’m just so thrilled that I figured out a techie programming thing, because as we all know, that is not my forte! Sooo, in celebration of, I made some fresh iced tea and decided to say hey.

The other nite I went to my first Meet-Up – the Milwaukee Web Designer’s group. I’ve been a member for a couple of yrs and never went. Thought it was time. Plus, they met on a different nite than usual, so that was also one of the reasons I went. Pretty cool to actually talk to someone in person about web stuff. There’s really no one else that I can do that with, ya know?

Ever hear of BarCamp? That’s another thing I was contemplating attending… we shall see, although I doubt hubby would let me “sleep over.” ha.

What else was I going to tell you? umm… I’m not unmotivated and uninspired these days. yay. I’ve just been working really hard to finish 5 sites that have been sitting in various stages of completion for awhile now, with 2 more on deck. Workin’ like a dawg, but it feels good to knock’em off, slowly but surely.

I also need to interview 2 new arteests for ArtBeatStreet – they already said yes, now I just have to think of what I want to ask them… besides “Hey, paint me a big’ol pretty picture, k?”

Ok, break’s over. Nice to see youse guys.

Howard MillerHubby just surprised me with one of those original Howard Miller ball clocks. You know the kind, yes? It was in one of their old offices, and the guy there said, “sure, take it.” yay. Only thing, the plug is right on the back of the clock. How the heck do I put it up? I don’t have any outlets smack in the middle of a wall? And it’s kinda heavy too… hmm. But anyway, that was a nice surprise. (the balls are actually that blue color) (umm, no, I didn’t say it!)

Before he came home, I was swearing at myself for being so damn unorganized with my biz paperwork as I tried to find something I needed. Really. I have about 3 spiral notebooks that I write client info and notes in (in addition to various passwords etc., etc.) and, a handful of little pieces of paper thrown in my “in-box” as well. How annoying. Did I find what I was looking for? But of course, eventually I always do. I guess that’s why I haven’t changed my modus operandi for the last how many years. dork.

Well, I s’pose. Gotta turn the air back on… actually had a little break yesterday. I don’t care much for the air conditioning, but I sure am glad we have the option.

Stay cool, talk later.

just in case…

I know that most of you guys (anyone who still visits that is) are probably aware of the following sites… Thumbtack Press is awesome! Now, it’s just a matter of figuring out which print to buy. Not an easy task! Lots of great choices, and cheap. Of course, the framing will kill ya. I should learn how to make frames, yes? Heaven knows I have tons of artwork I need to frame (yes, still all of the stuff that I’ve been talking about forever!).

Then there’s Tiny Showcase, which adds a new print every Tues. (I think it’s Tuesdays) – they sell pretty quickly, but it’s fun to check them out.

Speaking of frames, Lori, you make your own, yes? Is it difficult? Just curious. OH, as long as you’re here Lori (if you see this), do you have those links, or at least the one that you said was your fav, of the artists that posted pics of their studios online? I attempted to look through your archives – yikes – way too much to look through, especially since I don’t quite remember when that was….

Okee doke. Going back to Thumbtack Press to see if I can make any decisions… or not.

Want some coffee? Think I’ll make some – that might help. HEY, where the heck is Branana?? Dagnabbit woman, miss you!

Ok, one more thing… I’m beginning to emerge from my… mmm… my isolative (?) state o’ mind. Yes, there is a shimmer of light. I’m pacing my biz work, taking time for myself a little bit more, and basically, making better choices according to what’s really important in my life. After all, if I don’t make those choices, no one else will, and it would be a pity to grow old without serenity, and without the satisfaction of accomplishing things because I held back and stayed stuck.

Getting stuck in the past, and regrets, and “I shoulds” and “wish I coulds” — it’s not nice to do that to myself and the people that I care about. huh?

Oh nevermind – for now. Let’s just say that things are groovy, k? We’ll have to chat later.
:)

pondering…

May 17, 2006 6 Comments

I was seriously thinking of making KittyKitty a done deal – like, no more. Ya, the bastards got me down – of course I’m referring to the comment trash. But then I saw that there were actually 2 real comments in the last post. Will wonders never cease?? So I guess it is possible for friends to comment. hmm.

I can’t tell if I can rename the comments, because so many other parts of the template refer to the “comments” that if I renamed them, wouldn’t I have to change any other reference to “comments?” Hell if I know.

Hey, besides that, did I tell you recently that life is good? It is. Rain and all. Today my tunes of choice is Jimi. Reminds me of when I listened to the album new… we lived in the country-ish. Sort of a suburb of Milwaukee, but not really. Now a person can’t get a home in the area under… well, let’s just say it’s a super trendy and expensive town. It’s on a little lake – the same lake that I used to fish off of our pier with my grampa, and when I helped clean the fish we caught, I liked to pop the eyeball lens out of the fish’s eye. It was like a mini crystal ball. Cool, huh?

Anyway, my grandparents were making the little cottage into their retirement home, and we lived there until grampa retired in a year. My room was upstairs, and there was just drywall up. Well, I had a slumber party and we decided to paint the walls, since they would be covered up eventually anyway. Wooowee! Psychedelic man. Poster paints, all over – just crazy, groovy, early 70’s “art” galore. Unfortunately, when they tried to paint over all of that graffiti, it was NOT an easy task – that poster paint was super absorbed into the dry wall. Whoopsie. In fact, once it was painted over, I could still make out a lot of the old stuff if I looked hard enough. Fun.

It was all Jimi’s fault.
And the wind cries Mary….
