Every time I read the newest issue of HOW, I get mixed feelings… inspired, envious, wishful, motivated, and sometimes bummed out.

When I get bummed out, it’s usually because there’s soooo much that I wish that I could do. Not wishful that I had the ability to do *it* necessarily, but that I would take the time to learn something new. Pursue my knowledge, just take the time to do so. Places to go and things to learn – all things Adobe… Photoshop TV, NAPP (I keep my membership, but I certainly could take better advantage of all of the great info), and Layers Magazine, although I have explored the Photoshop CS3 Beta release – all I can say is wow. I want to be able to move around Illustrator as I do in Photoshop. While I do read many of the tutorials, it’s just not the same as having someone teach me in person, ya know? I know, I know, take a class or something… but that’s my point – I never follow through! It’s always a great idea in my head, but when it comes down to actually going & DOing, I don’t.

Anyway, I know I could if I really wanted to, I just wish I would get off my butt and do it!

Did I ever tell you that Jennie always says that I’m the ideal consumer? The marketers dream? Just another example of this fact, still going through HOW magazine, and read about these Andy Warhol watches – ooo! gotta have one! or House Industries Girard Alphabet Blocks – OH, they would look so cool in here on my book shelf, and I could rearrange them n’ stuff… what the hell? I don’t even care for Warhol that much, and like I have an extra $100 for a set of building blocks. geesh.

But the coolest thing that I read tonite, was a little snippet about Mahar Drygoods, a site established by Robert Mahar and that sells a whole bunch of unique kid’s stuff… but the most exciting thing to me as I read about it, besides being already familiar with the site, is that Aeolidia was mentioned as the creator of the web site, and Jen Corace the illustrator. Why is that you ask? I love love love Aeolidia. Arianne is my hero when it comes to customizing shopping carts for her clients. Man-o-man, she rocks!

So. That’s the poop this evening. OH, I should show you a pic of psycho dog that I snapped today.

Remote office

January 8, 2007 Leave a Comment

Now I know why I don’t paint my nails more often. It’s a pain in the butt to keep up, then when you take it off a day later, your nails look like crapola.

I’m meeting with a new client today at my remote Starbucks office. There’s no way anyone could come here. Good grief, Lucy Dog would go all psychotic and nutso.

We tried a new thing with her… every time she went postal, we sprayed vinegar water in her mouth. Well, it worked at the time, but her long term memory is diddly, and she would start all over again the next time. Plus, she went around smelling like vinegar. peeuuu. p.u.? pee ewww…. stinky. You know what I mean.

Now what shall I wear this morning? Probably shouldn’t wear my sweats, hmm?

Did I ever tell you that I love Mondays? I do. In fact, especially now that hubby is retired, I enjoy my days of the week as opposed to weekends. Although I’m bummed out that football is just about over. Speaking of, what a game with Dallas and Seattle, yes? Geez, can you imagine how awful Tony Romo feels? Reminds me of a game in ’99 when my brothers-in-law (brothers of my brother-in-law?) messed up their chances for the division championship with a bad snap. Man, that’s gotta suck.

OH, better hop in the shower dude. Gotta get ready.
Happy Monday!

‘nuther freelancer

Big changes at Ink2Art. Daughter dearest is giving notice at her current job. Yes, as Creative Director, she is resigning. She’s young, single, and if you don’t take risks, you’ll never know what could have been, right?

Soo, in addition to her freelance status, she will be Ink2Art’s illustrator, and more important to me, she will create the print work and logo design. I dislike print work very much, and her experience and abilities in this area will make my life much easier!

She has also received some commissioned painting jobs as a result of her gallery showing last month… can you tell I’m a proud mamacita?

My computer is scheduled to be delivered today – yippee! Though I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed about everything – not only the preparation and transfering of all the stuff from this pc to the new one, and cleaning my office (nooo, haven’t done that yet), but then there’s the holiday stuff. Trying not to get into the ‘bah-humbug’ mode – it’s all in the self-talk and positive thinking, right? “I love to decorate, I love it I love it I love it!! Can’t wait to get started! And shopping – oooo, let’s all go to the mall!” (nope, it’s not working).

Ok, enough now. I hope y’all are getting in the spirit of the Holidays. Right on people!
:)

Thought I’d take a break. I’m just so thrilled that I figured out a techie programming thing, because as we all know, that is not my forte! Sooo, in celebration of, I made some fresh iced tea and decided to say hey.

The other nite I went to my first Meet-Up – the Milwaukee Web Designer’s group. I’ve been a member for a couple of yrs and never went. Thought it was time. Plus, they met on a different nite than usual, so that was also one of the reasons I went. Pretty cool to actually talk to someone in person about web stuff. There’s really no one else that I can do that with, ya know?

Ever hear of BarCamp? That’s another thing I was contemplating attending… we shall see, although I doubt hubby would let me “sleep over.” ha.

What else was I going to tell you? umm… I’m not unmotivated and uninspired these days. yay. I’ve just been working really hard to finish 5 sites that have been sitting in various stages of completion for awhile now, with 2 more on deck. Workin’ like a dawg, but it feels good to knock’em off, slowly but surely.

I also need to interview 2 new arteests for ArtBeatStreet – they already said yes, now I just have to think of what I want to ask them… besides “Hey, paint me a big’ol pretty picture, k?”

Ok, break’s over. Nice to see youse guys.

tick-tock

Howard MillerHubby just surprised me with one of those original Howard Miller ball clocks. You know the kind, yes? It was in one of their old offices, and the guy there said, “sure, take it.” yay. Only thing, the plug is right on the back of the clock. How the heck do I put it up? I don’t have any outlets smack in the middle of a wall? And it’s kinda heavy too… hmm. But anyway, that was a nice surprise. (the balls are actually that blue color) (umm, no, I didn’t say it!)

Before he came home, I was swearing at myself for being so damn unorganized with my biz paperwork as I tried to find something I needed. Really. I have about 3 spiral notebooks that I write client info and notes in (in addition to various passwords etc., etc.) and, a handful of little pieces of paper thrown in my “in-box” as well. How annoying. Did I find what I was looking for? But of course, eventually I always do. I guess that’s why I haven’t changed my modus operandi for the last how many years. dork.

Well, I s’pose. Gotta turn the air back on… actually had a little break yesterday. I don’t care much for the air conditioning, but I sure am glad we have the option.

Stay cool, talk later.

Yay! Comments are freeeeeeeeee and easy – I hope.

I am procrastinating. Yes, I know, hard to believe but it’s true. You know, it’s a wonder I’ve kept my business running for the last 8 yrs (8??). I am one of the worst self-employed people I know. Unlike my Princess Patti. Damn, she’s good I tell ya!

I just thought I’d tell you that. Now I don’t feel like writing anymore. ha. silly me. Guess I’m just giddy with the no spam comments thing, I just had to practice writing in here again.
