Every time I read the newest issue of HOW, I get mixed feelings… inspired, envious, wishful, motivated, and sometimes bummed out.
When I get bummed out, it’s usually because there’s soooo much that I wish that I could do. Not wishful that I had the ability to do *it* necessarily, but that I would take the time to learn something new. Pursue my knowledge, just take the time to do so. Places to go and things to learn – all things Adobe… Photoshop TV, NAPP (I keep my membership, but I certainly could take better advantage of all of the great info), and Layers Magazine, although I have explored the Photoshop CS3 Beta release – all I can say is wow. I want to be able to move around Illustrator as I do in Photoshop. While I do read many of the tutorials, it’s just not the same as having someone teach me in person, ya know? I know, I know, take a class or something… but that’s my point – I never follow through! It’s always a great idea in my head, but when it comes down to actually going & DOing, I don’t.
Anyway, I know I could if I really wanted to, I just wish I would get off my butt and do it!
Did I ever tell you that Jennie always says that I’m the ideal consumer? The marketers dream? Just another example of this fact, still going through HOW magazine, and read about these Andy Warhol watches – ooo! gotta have one! or House Industries Girard Alphabet Blocks – OH, they would look so cool in here on my book shelf, and I could rearrange them n’ stuff… what the hell? I don’t even care for Warhol that much, and like I have an extra $100 for a set of building blocks. geesh.
But the coolest thing that I read tonite, was a little snippet about Mahar Drygoods, a site established by Robert Mahar and that sells a whole bunch of unique kid’s stuff… but the most exciting thing to me as I read about it, besides being already familiar with the site, is that Aeolidia was mentioned as the creator of the web site, and Jen Corace the illustrator. Why is that you ask? I love love love Aeolidia. Arianne is my hero when it comes to customizing shopping carts for her clients. Man-o-man, she rocks!
So. That’s the poop this evening. OH, I should show you a pic of psycho dog that I snapped today.
