PrettyPretty Glass

December 9, 2007 2 Comments

I remember now what I wanted to show you. After I checked on Lori, her last post about an artsy crochet technique (I know that’s simplifying it), reminded me of another artsy kind-o-technique, only with glass.

I’m working with a new client who creates beads, and she told me about Kim Neely who creates the most beautiful lampwork beads that I have ever seen. And apparently, through some scientific glass thing (forgive me if I don’t know the technical wording), but she creates beads with only ONE color of glass, to get this effect. This one as well. One color! Of course that isn’t the only style that she does – the rest of her work is just amazing. Wow.

ANYway, that’s that. OH, and Lori, I want to see a pic of your heads too! (relates to a post a couple of entries below).

Happy Sunday.
GO PACK!!

cooking n’ stuff

December 9, 2007 1 Comment

I’m not really a Rachael Ray fan – at least when I watched her show when it first started. But there’s what I imagine to be her regular cooking show on right now, and I think she’s ok. Pretty normal-ish…

I’m watching a cooking show you ask in wonderment? But of course. Actually, I’ve been snooping around my recipes of old, and checking out some of the Food Channel shows (I’m way out of touch – last time I watched cooking shows, Graham Kerr was one of my favs… is he still alive?). ANYway, I’m feeling rather domestic these days and thinking about cooking and eating healthier. Well, cooking – period. Mainly because as I remain smoke free, I feel the need to DO something to replace a ciggie. Food. And it stinks and I don’t want that to keep happening, ya know? So that’s the poop about cooking.

OH, and you know what else? I am weaning myself off of caffeine. Yes, really! I’ve been told that even though caffeine suppresses your appetite initially, it ultimately increases it later on (but I chose to ignore the message at that time).

Funny thing… when you start to do a few good things for yourself (as opposed to talking about doing it and not), it kind of has a domino effect on other things in your life. Ever notice that? Quit smoking? Feeling healthier? Well, maybe I should eat better… heck, maybe I should even exercise more (ha, more?). But you know what I mean, yes?

One more thing you must go and look at. Yes, another silly cat video, but for some reason, it cracks me up every time I watch it. The person recording the cat wrote a few words on the screen to suggest what the cat is saying, or at least, what it kind of sounds like. This cat says what sounds like “really?” Really. And it has permeated my brain! Seriously. Anytime anyone says “really” in a conversation, I think of the cat’s voice. “Really? Real… Really?” ha. Go see.
Really.
Luv y’all.
xoxo

the big game… sorta

November 30, 2007 8 Comments

I was so nervous about the Packer/Cowboy game tonite. geesh. You would have thought it was for the championship or something. And while I was quite sad about our loss, it wasn’t too bad, all things considered. Onward, right?

So afterwards, I scrolled down my DVR list, and decided to take a look at the HBO special about Ingid Newkirk & PETA that I had taped. I don’t know why I even bothered, since they inevitably show undercover videos of the conditions in certain institutions. The cruel and absolutely disgusting, vile videos that show one horrid act after another of the abuse of an animal. After one of the videos began, I closed my eyes and couldn’t press the cancel and delete button fast enough. It was awful. I should have known.

On a lighter note, I got a new head! A mannequin head. You know that I have that head on the porch, remember? The one that the dogs wouldn’t let in the house? Then of course I have the body/torso chica here in my office as well, yes?
Well this lovely lady is old-er. Pretty face, a rather long, alien neck, but I love her.

New Girl Head

Alrighty, th———OH, yes, I’m not smoking. It’s not a piece o’ cake, but I’m doin’ it. Chewing a lot of straws, but no ciggies. yay.
Ok, nitey-nite.

countdown for real

November 16, 2007 7 Comments

Yes, today is the last smoke-till-I-choke day. When I wake up tomorrow and make my way to Starbucks before I save lives, there will be no more cig on the way. I am totally prepared for this. Chantix is making me a tad nauseated, but I can live with it. So. You will see my ‘Quit Meter” up here tomorrow, although I realize it’s most important to me, not to you.

I found a cute site yesterday. Not necessarily for us married gals, but funny all the same – Dear Husband. A single woman’s letter to her soon to be, wherever he is, husband.

Anyway. Must get busy. Sometimes I do so many client updates, there’s little time left for new clients… or at the least, requires very skilled juggling manuevers.

Have a great weekend everyone. All ready for Turkey Day?

Vietnam…

November 7, 2007 4 Comments

Remember that? I relaxed tonite – have to save lives tomorrow, and just wanted to chill. Cafe Press is also having a “shopkeepers” sale, so I played around a bit so that I could buy something for myself. I need winter sweats… (yes, I diddled around putting that shop back up – mainly for myself & for holiday gifts for the fam…)

Made some items with the quote that you saw a lot during the Vietnam War… “War is not good for children and other living things,” except if I remember correctly, at the bottom of the flower was an army helmet, no?

ANYway, I must get my flower-child ass to bed… c’yall later.
