One thing that annoys the hell outta me, is the command bar in IE7. Can’t get rid of it. In my search for a solution, I came across a couple of neat fixes and addons.
IESpell is a quickie spell checker that you can bring up anywhere you’re typing on the web, such as right here, or when you’re making a comment in someone else’s blog… You just access it from the toolbar and a little box pops up and does a spell check!
IEToys has a whole slew of things (and you can check what to use or not). You can delete the images from a web page you’re reading (they come back when you refresh), highlight a word on a page, click “definition” and a dictionary pops up with the definition of the word – same thing with highlighting a word and you can bring up Wikipedia. There’s also a ‘click’ to bring up the images from a page you’re viewing, and all of the images are presented on a page where you can click on one and it’s copied to your clipboard…
Where I found these items was from the EnhanceIE site. It was there that I tweaked the toolbar to fit on top of the address bar, and got rid of the search on the toolbar as well. Very cool – one less annoyance to deal with.
And finally, did you know that if you type a url in the address bar, say, dotcomkitty, and then click ctrl + enter, the https://www and the .com is automatically filled in for you (in IE7 that is).
ANYway… that was my distraction for the evening. Was working on a few client updates when I wandered away from them, now I don’t feel like doing anymore. I think that’s my cue to quit for the night, hmm?
Yay Badgers btw!
c’yall later.
