I just watched a fascinating movie, Something the Lord Made. It’s about the first heart surgery for “Blue Baby” syndrome at Johns Hopkins Hospital. You’ll have to read the synopsis ‘cos I suck at that. Between the movie and a new show on Discovery Health, Medical Maverik, I am proud to be a life saving health professional.
We work miracles every day. We really do save lives. We save people from the consequences of their recklessness, their environment, their being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and their genetic roll of the dice.
We comfort, problem solve, advocate, and serve.
We get blood on our hands, tears in our eyes, and gratitude in our hearts.
We make decisions, make mistakes, and make people’s quality of life better, if only for a few more days, months or years. Or not.
Sometimes it’s just a job, but in the end, I am proud of what I do and the difference that I make.
What pleasant thoughts to end my day.
xoxo
