To my artsy-crafty visitors

November 16, 2008 6 Comments

I just finished a site, the International Fiber Collaborative, whose founder – Jennifer Marsh – covered an entire abandoned gas station with fiber-ish panels submitted from people all over the world. It’s kind of hard to describe, you’ll have to go n’ see, BUT now she has another project in the works where she’s asking for *leaves*. The plan is to build a huge tree with about 30,000 leaves from artists, crafters, kids, teachers… it’s pretty amazing.

So the reason I’m mentioning this is because I know that many of you *do* this sort of thing, you know, fiber, artsy-crafty stuff. Just go see what I’m talking about – when you see the pics and read the press etc, it will make more sense.

Yay Packers!!

ain’t no college student

I pulled an all-niter last nite. I couldn’t help it… underestimated the amount of work involved in getting a site up and running by dawn. EVERYthing, the whole promo, the participants, the fans, all depended on *ME* getting the site where it was supposed to be, on time. My client’s publicist stayed up with me, remotely, and provided comic relief… it really wasn’t that bad. But every time she would send me an updated Book Ranking for the hour, it would freak me out.

My point is, other than the fact that I’m getting too old to be staying up all nite like that anymore, is that this project was for an author, and it blows my mind that with this promo, her book went from an Amazon book ranking of 40,000 24 hrs ago, to a book ranking of 16 about 10 minutes ago. Isn’t that cool? Amazing what a little marketing can do, hmm?

Sooo, took a little nappy early this afternoon, and actually don’t feel as badly as I thought I would. In fact I even did some house cleaning when I woke up. I am noticing quite a bit of short circuiting tonite though. wow. ya. Like now. Brain cells? yoooo-hooooooo.

so-called social networking

October 19, 2008 Leave a Comment

I’m a social person, sure I am. As opposed to a recluse? Non-social? And I can honestly say that I am now trying out Twitter mainly as umm… research. For a client. No, really. Because if I was doing it entirely for myself, I wouldn’t. Out of all of them… all of the current public displays of myself on the web, I think that Twitter has the greatest potential for making me feel the most ridiculous, in-ept, and the biggest social-outcast of them all. Good grief! Talk about feeling lonely! BUT, yes, I’m learning… I’m learning that I don’t like it.
:)
But what’s rather cool, but another time waster, is Blip… kinda fun to go through other’s playlists to discover new music. Yes, I know one can do that through many different venues…

ANYway. Must pick up the mumster momentarily… have a great Sunday all!
tweet.

Random KittyKittyI’m feeling antsy today. What’s a little surprising to me is now that I’m truly sitting here 24/7, as opposed to 24/7 minus 2 days when I was out saving lives, is that it gets a little tiresome. *NEWSFLASH* Yes, really. Hence the more frequent posting I suppose. More breaks. More freckles. huh? More freckles ‘cos I’m driving more. Driving more to Starbucks with my car top down. More sun, more freckles. OH! time to vote!

Know what I’ve been doing every hour, about 16 times a day? Voting in a local contest to win a $2,500 Window Treatment Prize – blinds, drapes, whatever my little heart desires. I have to jot down the times that I vote ‘cos I forget from hour to hour exactly what time it was the last time I voted. Yes, I’m obsessed. Have you seen how much those suckers cost now? Damn, and I have a lot of windows. So ya, time to vote dude.

no more saving lives

August 4, 2008 7 Comments

Yup, that’s what I said. The end of a saving lives Kitty and the beginning of a totally independent business woman. Ya, scary, but much thought went into it of course. I just thought I’d tell ya.

What are the words I’m thinking of? umm… “sad but sweet?” no…  is it? Maybe. Oh I don’t know, but you know what I mean, right?

I don’t feel like going to bed. I actually was going to mess around with FMG and do a little tidying up and dust off a few things, but then I wound up looking around in there and visiting some dead links – it’s amazing to me how many domains are no more. What happened to those people/sites who were around for so long, or at least it seemed like awhile at the time, and then they’re gone – just like that. Poof.

Oh well. Who the heck knows the reasons behind it all.
Guess I’ll take it to bed.
c’yall next time. OH, has anyone upgraded WP without backing everything up first? I really should upgrade this puppy but don’t feel like backing it up (although it may be very easy, I don’t know), then I think, oh what the hell’s the dif. We’ll see. Probably won’t happen for awhile anyway.

Here we are, another week. I’m warming up to begin my day o’ work. I need to find a better pace to work at. The problem now is getting caught up on client work and get my own household in order.

Yup, the kitchen is very near completion, at least from the construction part of it all. Now comes the fun part… no,  seriously. It is ready to be put back together. Fun, yes, but when the heck am I supposed to fit it in? Hubby is bugging me to get going – I want to get going on it, but I really really need to separate myself from it long enough to work, dagnabbit.

Did I tell you that the kitchen is finally painted? And that I’m not totally thrilled with the outcome? Oh well, it could have been worse, but I can live with it.

ANYway, just wanted to wish y’all a happy new week, and I’ll talk to you later.
