v.10

November 28, 2006 Leave a Comment

For fellow NetObjects users – you’ve heard the news? v. 10 is out. I’ve heard nothing but good things about it! Of course I’m going to upgrade. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Btw, with the last update to v.9, they’ve done mucho work and made it WC3 compliant – finally!

I’m still going to give Dreamweaver 8 another try… in my spare time – ha.

It’s official! I’m ordering my gnu peecee this week. Most exciting is the 4 gigs of ram and a 24 in wide screen. Yup, decided to go with Dell again. From everything that I researched, their wide screen monitors have high marks and good reviews. groovy.

Sooo, you know what this means? I need to do a major cleaning in here, most definitely. And major backing up… although for the first time I’m going to try that LapLink, PCMover software. Should be fine, yes? With the last move, I networked my old tower to this one, which was kind of cool, but then I wasn’t giving the old system to anyone else.

Hohum. My eyeballs are really bugging me today. Ever get that from being on the pc too long? I never did before, but maybe it’s accumulative? (or age!)

Happy work week everyone, c’ya later.

mac mac baby

October 23, 2006 7 Comments

This may be old news to some of you, since the first beta was announced in April, BUT, I am ecstatic! I think I may just buy a mac. If I’m able to run all of my Windows software on a mac (with a Windows XP install and partition), well hellsbells, why not?? And from all that I’ve read about it, sounds like it’s a winner.

Heaven only knows that I’ve just about had it with Dell. There is no way in hell that hubby would permit another Dell PC in this house. Oh sure, I’ve had pretty good luck with the 4 Dells that I’ve had (with Mumsy’s machines included), but they’re getting more difficult to tolerate – mainly because of their proprietory hardware and their tech support.

I really do want to join the devoted mac club… I want to see what all the hoopla is about. Besides, how could the new iMac design with a 24″ display be anything less than perfect? And you know what? Last nite I put a dream machine on my  “wish list” over on the Apple site, and guess who just called me to see if they could offer me any assistance or answer any questions about the system? Yup, Apple. Like Dell has ever, or would ever, do such a thing. Right.

Hubby just told me not to put it off – go for it! We’re going to give my step-son this current pc for Christmas.

Aren’t you excited for me? Just had to share.
:)

I have to show you our new family member! Meet Rosie.

Isn’t she adorable?? She’s an American Bulldog, but not here yet since she’s only 4wks old and is still with mommy and siblings. We’re picking her up on Oct. 14th. yippeee! Can’t you just smell her puppy breath and feel her little soft round tummy? It’ll be interesting to see how psycho Lucy dog will react.

Other than that, over the weekend I put up an Art Beat Street interview that I did with dwellephant. Go see, then visit Milan – he cracks me up! There’s another interviewee on deck, stay tuned.

ho-hum. I am getting quite bummed out lately with the changing of the seasons. I really really really dislike getting up and going to save lives in the dark! Makes me soooo sad that summer is leaving (did I say that already?). Seriously. I dislike the cold more and more with each passing year. But, there’s not a hellova lot I can do about that, right?

Ok guys, be good, and I’ll see ya later.
xoxo

I don’t know if I can write and listen to my music CD of choice (as opposed to random radio tunes) at the same time. Especially one that I haven’t heard in awhile. If I was strictly working and creating, that’s a different scenerio, which is what I was doing prior to my *epiphany* moment.

You know, when a huge swell of contentment and mellowness overcomes your entire body, and you just want to hug the world? Well, it just happened to me, and suddenly I felt like listening to some of my flashback tunes. But how can you just listen to Elton John without singing along??

So. Yes, I’m having a wonderful day so far. Finally getting my to-do list down to a more managable size. yay. That’s the downside of going on vacation—the pile of work remains, and then some.

Currently, I’m struggling with a decision on whether or not to take on a huge web project. Probably one of the biggest I’ve ever encountered in the last 8 yrs of my biz. I’m just always so afraid of making a commitment. What if I can’t do it? What if the very thought of sitting down to work on the job stresses me out and makes me want to puke? You can’t just stop in the middle of it and say “sorry, I just can’t do anymore.” Nope. No can do.

Hubby understands for the most part. But the big $$ signs distract him from the reality of whether or not I can indeed do the job. Of course, he also casually mentioned that I’d be able to finally buy this or that – things that I’ve only dreampt of buying sometime in the future. Gee, thanks darlin.

SOoooo, anyway. That’s the latest dealio over here. We shall see where the road leads me.

BTW, I had to turn Elton off to write this. Ha. What a dork.
c’yall later.

I can’t tell you how absolutely wonderful it feels to be caught up on client work! Actually, I probably did tell you already. Yes, it’s truly a liberating feeling.

Oh sure, I have a lot of work to complete, but all of the work is fun. Yes, I said fun! I’m also working on a new site for an actress — and she was on Crossing Jordan last nite! That was pretty cool, seeing her in the first 10 minutes of the show, although she was shot shortly after her appearance (she was the social worker with the daughter of the dead guy). But at least she wasn’t killed, so she’ll return in a couple of weeks – ha.

A-a-n-d, I’m creating a new-do for Ink2Art. It’s time… getting a little stale to me. So that’s fun. Nope, still haven’t finished putting FMG back together. Pretty extensive job, and not all that fun.

Fun, fun, fun. I’m putting the FUN back into my work. It’s all about the fun for 2006!

ALSO fun – hubby retires in 5 days!! That tops my fun list this week. After 32 years he will be out of there. Well, the whole plant will be outta there, we’re just fortunate that he can retire first! yeah baby! He’s taking the summer off for FUN, then will probably do something job-ish. We’ve always talked about him being in security at the hospital. I think he would make a wunnerful security guy (what do they call ’em? Dimestore cops? no… umm… what is it??) I do think he’d be a hit with the staff, indeed. Nice and intimidating for the no-gooders, as well as a sweetheart for the rest of us. So that would be cool, yes?

Okee, I’m off to have fun! c’ya later.
(this comment moderating is a PITA – good suggestion Annie – I’ll have to try that)
