I can see that there will be very little snacking tonite in the Mead household. I just went to get a popsicle and a soda for hubby… out the front door, walk in the rain, unlock the back door, go downstairs and grab the goods, then go back out and around and in again.

Oh, I know the entire neighborhood isn’t sitting, watching, and waiting to see what we’re going to do next – it just feels kinda funny. But I betcha that I’ll have more cravings for whatever I don’t have handy up here tonite, ya know? Usually works that way.

Anyway, y’all have an enjoyable 4th, k?

I was just going to wave good morning to you, since I’ve been awake since 0500, but then I started browsing around instead. I intended on looking around Flickr at the Bungalow sites, to check out wall colors and such… that’s my next big decision.

The kitchen remodeling progress seems to be slowing down. Maybe it’s just because there are a lot of things being done that aren’t real noticeable but necessary. The room looks normal/smaller now since the primer is on the walls. Floor will be in next week. ** I just uploaded a pic with a few of the tiles laid out for kicks**

There’s going to be a day/night when I won’t be able to come in here (office) and dad-in-law will have to “live” downstairs for those 24 hrs. The floor/grout will have to sit and dry during that time, and there will be no way to get from one end of the house to the potty.

Hubby and I will stay up here, and will have to go outside, around the house, and back in via the back door. Remind me to restrict my liquids that evening – I do not want to have to run around the house half-nekkid, get back in, and run down to the basement to pee in the middle of the night, ya know?

Ick. I don’t particularly like this early morning stuff. Makes my body kinda quesy…

not so thrilling…

I think my present living arrangements are getting to me. I am getting tired of cleaning every day (new bathroom and my office – being the closest dust “catch-alls”). Sure, I’m getting plenty of exercise up and down the stairs 50 times a day, but not when I forget something on a trip that I purposefully went down for, and come up with something else.

Seriously, it’s bumming me out.

Ohhh, I know it’s a temporary thing, and of course it will all be worth it when it’s finally done, but in the meantime… blah.
So for now, all I want to do is sleep and sleep and sleep. And this from someone who never sleeps.

Did I tell you little (BIG) baby Rosie dog is afraid of the gates that we put up to block off the kitchen? Ya, she is. And psycho dog Lucy continues to bark NONstop all day in the crate downstairs. E.v.e.r.y. s.i.n.g.l.e. d.a.y.

Ok, that’s my bitch session for the weekend. Now I’m going to go plop down on the couch and veg.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

I’m thinking of putting up a disclaimer such as “this blog contains nothing but house remodeling ramblings - continue reading if somewhat interested”, or maybe sign up on Houseblogs.net or something, ya know?

Sooo, with that said…

The drywall guy is here today, nailing away like crazy. Rosie and I are in here, and try as I might, I keep straying away from client work, and browsing around remodeling web sites. The subject matter lately are sites with light fixtures and kitchen tiles for backsplash ideas. This California tile maker, Jeffrey Court, does some of the prettiest backsplash arrangements I’ve seen so far. Gorgeous! Take a look for yourself. As usual, picking out something is another difficult decision. It’s all about the decisions, yes?

Currently I’m leaning towards something along these lines – those small topaz glass ‘dots’ are amazing to me. I can imagine how they would look on a larger area and in the light of the morning sun… yum, what a sight to behold with my first cup o’ coffee of the day, ya think?

For the lighting in the kitchen, including the dining room chandelier, my first concept would be to have the main ceiling light and the pendants, in a light glass shade with oil-rubbed bronze as the finish, then a Tiffany style chandelier in the dining room with a similar bronze finish. Of course there are a kazillion variations of all the above as well as whether I want the arrangements reversed. The only thing about having the Tiffany style in the pendant lights and the main kitchen ceiling light, is that I think that would look too “busy” in the kitchen – between the counter top, and the flooring… ya, too much I think.

ANYway, ’tis the latest meanderings for this Monday. I leave you with a photo from one of my Flickr groups, Hewn & Hammered. This guy’s Craftsman house has to be one of the most spectacular examples of an Arts and Crafts style bungalow I have ever seen. Check out this picture of his dining room. Isn’t it beaUtiful?

Okee doke then, c’yall later!

how to open drawers & doors

Yet another plethora of kitchen goods to decide on. Knobs n’ hardware for the cabinets - although I have awhile to make up my mind. Actually, I have a pretty good idea of what I want. In keeping with the style of the bungalow (Craftsman, Mission), it will be a fairly straight forward choice.

But you must see these! Maybe I’ll just get one of the guys for hanging something on. Just look at the many many companies and styles. wowsa.

Anyway… I’m hot. Think I’ll make some coffee. When I was little, I could never understand how my parents could drink coffee on a hot, summer day. Now I know.
