One toke…

April 14, 2007 Leave a Comment

Ever watch VH1’s The Drug Years? While making coffee this morning, I was singing “One Toke Over the Line” by Brewer & Shipley (you know, when you wake up singing a song out of the blue? altho this wasn’t entirely out of the blue) (and no, I wasn’t smokin’ anything). Hubby was sitting there, reading the paper, and looked at me with his usual, “Where the hell did that come from?” and I told him that I had watched VH1 last nite…
“You know, that series The Drug Years?”
He just started laughing…
“What? It’s really good! Like the history channel…”
He couldn’t stop laughing, then held up his hand in a PEACE sign, and just said, “Ya man, like, the history channel for hippies…” hahahahahaha….

well, it is….

I remembered that I had downloaded the song – back in the Napster days – but I’ll be darned if I can find it. I thought that I saved my entire music list when I switched computers, but I don’t know where it is! Dagnabbit.

ANyway. I wonder if they’ll have another Woodstock marathon this August again… yikes. I don’t want it to be August yet! The snow from our latest snow storm (in April!) just melted!

Ok, enough of the flashbacks already. I would like to get some work done – disrupted my planned schedule. Yup, even on a Saturday… what can I say.
c’yall later.

day is nite and nite is day

The other nite when I got home from saving lives, I was like a wet noodle. Kept floppin’ out at the computer, which hubby detests… so from now on, per hubby’s instructions, I’m to sit on the couch first for a bit so that if I fall asleep, I won’t break my neck when it flops out of alignment at the pc desk. Ok. So last nite, slept for 4 hrs on the couch, then when I got up, I was ready to stay up. Unfortunately, that wasn’t conducive to getting up another 4 hrs later to save lives again.

Same thing tonite, only I’m done with the saving lives thing for awhile… so now after waking up after a 3 hour nap, I can stay up and feel normal. Besides, there was a Shirly Temple marathon all day, which I taped every single one of her movies – so I must watch at least one of them… think I’ll watch Heidi. I love that one.

I have to add, regarding the saving lives thing this weekend – we did save a life, or I should say, he’s on the upswing. Very very sick puppy who today managed to get off all of the life-sustaining meds (for the most part), and things look promising. When he coded the other day, the docs did an open chest heart massage right at the bedside. Yup, opened his chest cavity right down to the quivering heart, right there in front of all present to save him. Amazing stuff.

But anyway… tomorrow begins the banging and barking thing again. I’m seriously considering getting some tranquilizers from the vet for psycho dog… can dogs get addicted to them? I wonder….

psycho dog

So here I am, trying to work with a 7 yr old psychotic dog on my lap, barking and shivering in cycles. This is going to be a long, freakin’ 4 months if she doesn’t get used to these workers in our house. Someone suggested this au naturale calming potion for the dog. Stinks man, like dead fish. Not sure if it’s working or not.

Well, we’re going to try “doggy daycare” with her gramma for a couple of hours this morning – over at Mumsy’s house. We shall see if she’s less vocal outside of her own terrain, ya know?

ok, gotta go.

Lowes Virgin

Yes, ’tis true. I have never been inside of a Lowes store – until yesterday. OMG. Where have I been?? Good thing hubby was with me and wasn’t exactly in a shopping mode, or I would probably still be there!

Our primary mission was to buy the bathroom stuff, at least for the downstairs one. Thanks to the salesperson, we got the deal of the day. Since we’re going with a pedestal sink, he showed us a custom order that was returned – a Kohler sink top (to the pedestal), normally $319.00, and we got it for $29.00!!! Can you imagine that? Perfectly normal, nothing wrong with it. Of course, we still had to purchase the actual pedestal, which was $197.00, but still! Holy moly – amazing.

Man, my head was swimming… looking at all of the different lighting… now that is what I will be going solo to shop for. Of course, we have so many projects in the works, including the dining room down the line, I just couldn’t help picking out stuff (mentally) for those rooms also. Especially since once the hole in the kitchen wall (for a breakfast bar thingie) is done, and we’ll be able to see through to the dining room, I want to have that chandelier put up right away – especially since we’ll have the contractor available to install it, ya know?

A few groovy linkolas for more stuff I’m dreaming of… for the dining room, where we have the original oak panels about 15 inches apart on all of the walls, wouldn’t just about any of these wallpaper treatments be stunning?! I’d still wallpaper over painting any day.

And the lighting… ooooo, lookie. Lowes has many many comparable lights, so that’s cool too.

Last, but certainly not least, we picked out our kitchen cabinet style – in knotty alder.

Did I tell you that we’re doing the upstairs bathroom with a wainscotting of white beadboard? And keeping the original style of the floor with those little white hexagon tiles with the black dots inbetween? I hope it turns out in reality like I see it in my head.

Ok, I’m done. I’m so darn distracted, but I really need to get some work done. Coffee time, yes?
c’yall later!

God Advertising

from God

Some time ago, I read the above wording on a billboard, at the intersection of a busy street. Pretty clever I thought. Then today, I saw another one:

from God

I just think they’re so clever, don’t you? I wonder who sponsors them?
Just had to share.
