It’s official! I’m ordering my gnu peecee this week. Most exciting is the 4 gigs of ram and a 24 in wide screen. Yup, decided to go with Dell again. From everything that I researched, their wide screen monitors have high marks and good reviews. groovy.

Sooo, you know what this means? I need to do a major cleaning in here, most definitely. And major backing up… although for the first time I’m going to try that LapLink, PCMover software. Should be fine, yes? With the last move, I networked my old tower to this one, which was kind of cool, but then I wasn’t giving the old system to anyone else.

Hohum. My eyeballs are really bugging me today. Ever get that from being on the pc too long? I never did before, but maybe it’s accumulative? (or age!)

Happy work week everyone, c’ya later.

groovy eyeball

I was scrounging around in my dresser drawers for a little coin purse, or a cosmetic bag – something to put in my new, cavernous handbag, and I came across one of my fav little icons from days gone by. A glass eye necklace. I thought I’d lost it!

eyeball Isn’t it cool?
And the reason that I was looking for a little bag of some sort, was because the new purse I bought is one big sack. I’m used to having a bunch of little divided areas inside – you know, a little compartment for this, and another one for that… but I fell so in love with the design of the purse that I bought it regardless of its shortcomings.

Front of purse
Front of purse… very colorful suede n’ leather doodads
Back of purse
Back… my family says it’s all “me”.
:)

I have a headache. Maybe I’ll have a cup o’ coffee…
Eye see you later.

Happy Turkey Weekend

November 25, 2006 Leave a Comment

Hi guys – hope you all are having a lovely weekend. I’m totally enjoying my time off, even though I’m still compelled to work here for awhile. Although the more I’m browsing around this afternoon, the less I feel like working on anything substantial, ya know?

A coworker and I were discussing Bill Gates and the history of Windows the other day, and I had this urge to read more. I also remembered parts of that movie, Pirates of Silicon Valley, so I bought it and watched it again last nite. Didn’t remember parts of it, and I actually sat here without touching the keyboard.

Too bad I didn’t think of eating the pomegranite that’s been sitting on my windowsill for the last couple of weeks. It’s like no time is a good time to occupy my hands instead of working on the pc. Pretty sad commentary about how I spend most of my time, hmm?

So what else is happening? Rosie is growing like a weed, and is the sweetest little girl I have ever met, she really is. What an amazing personality. From the sound of everyone on the American Bulldog forums that hubby visits, it’s a quality trait of that breed. Of course Lucygirl is still our baby, even though she seems so much older now, and, even though she’s so much more active – playing and running around with her little sister.

ANYway. Watching “White Christmas” right now… maybe I’ll spend a little graphic me-time for the rest of the day. We’ll see. OH! Almost forgot – Shirley Temple is on TCM – think I’ll watch that instead!
Have a great Sunday everybody. Nice to see you.
xoxo

One thing that annoys the hell outta me, is the command bar in IE7. Can’t get rid of it. In my search for a solution, I came across a couple of neat fixes and addons.

IESpell is a quickie spell checker that you can bring up anywhere you’re typing on the web, such as right here, or when you’re making a comment in someone else’s blog… You just access it from the toolbar and a little box pops up and does a spell check!

IEToys has a whole slew of things (and you can check what to use or not). You can delete the images from a web page you’re reading (they come back when you refresh), highlight a word on a page, click “definition” and a dictionary pops up with the definition of the word – same thing with highlighting a word and you can bring up Wikipedia. There’s also a ‘click’ to bring up the images from a page you’re viewing, and all of the images are presented on a page where you can click on one and it’s copied to your clipboard…

Where I found these items was from the EnhanceIE site. It was there that I tweaked the toolbar to fit on top of the address bar, and got rid of the search on the toolbar as well. Very cool – one less annoyance to deal with.

And finally, did you know that if you type a url in the address bar, say, dotcomkitty, and then click ctrl + enter, the https://www and the .com is automatically filled in for you (in IE7 that is).

ANYway… that was my distraction for the evening. Was working on a few client updates when I wandered away from them, now I don’t feel like doing anymore. I think that’s my cue to quit for the night, hmm?

Yay Badgers btw!
c’yall later.

grrr, I could just spit! I inadvertently deleted all of my cookies last nite. Poop. Do you kow how many passwords I have to remember now?? Good grief, there are places that I’ve just been using the saved pw forever. Where the hell are all of those passwords? Oh sure, they’re probably in my notebook where there are oodles of pages with hastily scribbled combinations of various passwords from the last, ohhhh, 3 yrs or so.

Damnit.
Happy Saturday all. Really.
Have fun.

Finally bit the bullet and ordered CS2. Now it’s just a matter of whether I’ll be able to refrain from installing it on this pc, or just wait to install it on the new one… decisions decisions. Upgraded to a 9×12 Intuos 3 Wacom tablet too. I’m very excited about that! Like I’ve said before, when I buy these tools, it’s with the hope of actually drawing again. Oh sure, I know that it’s still not with pen and paper, but it’s a step in the right direction.

Rosiebaby had her first puppy class today. She was the star pupil, or so her daddy-o said. She is growing so incredibly fast, I can’t believe it.

Ok, break’s over. I’m supposed to finish a project tonite yet, but needed to look away for a minute, know what I mean? sooo, c’yall later.
