sweet relief

May 5, 2006

Hola all! Back from Vegas and refreshed and rejuvenated, for the time being anyway. Ate a lot, walked a lot, and got a lot of sun. 90 degrees and up -woowoo.

Know what else I was thinking of as I floated in the pool? I want a complete back piece tattoo. Yup. And I want Chris Garver of Miami Ink to do it (Ami’s a hottie) but Chris would be better for me, I think. Yes I know, expensive and a long wait more than likely. But I decided if I ever get another tattoo, I want it to be a piece of artwork. It’s going to last forever and I won’t settle for less. Hubby said we could drive down on the bike someday and hang out in Miami South Beach for a bit. I’m also considering adding a bit of my own artwork to the mix. So that’s the latest poop in this brain o’ mine. We shall see.

We did go to the Palms just to check out the Hart & Huntington Tattoo Shop for kicks. eh, not impressed although I did see a couple of the artists from the show mulling around. I don’t even like the show particulary, but wanted to see the shop anyway.

Luckily I didn’t have to go and save lives today, but it is my weekend there. Oh well, party’s over.

I’m pooped. Just wanted to say hey, and I’ll talk to y’all later.

past era

April 26, 2006

So many times I think about how I’d like to share something that happened, but then when it comes around to actually writing in here, I think, “oooh, forget it.” So I don’t.

I wanted to share my shopping for clothes story the other day… how much it sucked because the styles all stink right now. I do NOT want to wear capri pants or jeans. They look ridiculous on short people like myself. The fabrics and colors are very cool though. Very “flash-back-ish” for me — beautiful. But the clothing that they’re being used for look like maternity tops for small boobies and no butt. yuk.

I do love the “Lucky” brand clothes – all of which I owned when they didn’t have a label. They were called “damned hippie clothes” at that time. I even saw a collection of Lucky jeans that had patches on them – freakin’ material patches that weren’t sewn on because of holes in the jeans, but just for looks.

Man, I had a pair of jeans that were practically ALL patched up ‘cos they needed the sewing to keep them in one piece! oh yes, back in the day.

Why the clothes shopping all of a sudden? (I’ve been on a clothes shopping hiatus for quite some time now). Well, hubby and I are flying to Vegas on Sunday. Thank God! If there was ever a perfect time for a vacation, it’s now. Way, way too much happening lately. It’s been crazy – from all ends around here. I’m just looking forward to laying around by the pool, walking down the strip, having sex without a dog sniffing around or barking to come in the bedroom, and just generally chillin’ out. Know what I mean?

Dang. And the spam in the comments is bummin’ me out. I don’t know how to do any of the suggestions that you guys offered last time. Ryan, I can’t do the “kismet” thing, or whatever it’s called, ‘cos you need a key which apparently just comes with a free site, or something ridiculous like that. Annie, don’t know how to “rename” the comments… it all just sucks.

Anyway, I think I’m going to go now. Just checkin’ in. Nothing too gnu. Hope you’re all just peachy.
xoxo

saving lives and lettuce

April 9, 2006 5 Comments

hi.

s-h-h-h… it’s so quiet in here. Lucy pooped and went back to bed. Hubby is still sleeping… and I’m having a cuppa before I chop a head of lettuce for our Mexican Fiesta today at the hospital.

Yes, it’s my saving lives weekend. Busybusybusy. Geesh. I don’t think it will ever not be busy again. Did I tell you that a couple of months ago we went hospital wide with our “respiratory therapy protocols?” Which means that the docs write an order for us to see their patients, and we do an assessment to decide what kind of treatment they need?

It’s really pretty remarkable — finally, we order what the patients need and not just what the resident thinks that they should order… just because. Of course it means a ton o’ more work involved on our part, but in the long run, it is a good thing.

Earlier this week my 91 y/o dad-in-law had surgery for an obstructed bowel. Came through with flying colors. Now it’s just a matter of escaping the hospital without major things happening post-op.

You know how the hospital is one of the worst places to be sick in… frequent infections afterwards… dirty place. Well, not visibly, but there’s so many variables and hospital acquired pneumonias, it’s just a good day when a patient leaves with everything still attached and in working order.

He’ll be ok.

Alrighty, must chop lettuce. You know, I’m the first one to buy things all conveniently chopped up, but paying 1.79 per bag of chopped lettuce (and 2 of them) compared to 99 cents for a head of lettuce, I just couldn’t bring myself to do that… so that’s why I need to chop-chop.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

1 biker + 1 laptop = headache

April 2, 2006 3 Comments

What a stressful day. First I had to install a wireless network here. Oh ya, “easy” – not necessarily m’dears. I think the first time I attempted it was complicated by the fact that I already had a hub for my cable connection… oh nevermind, not important.

Bottom line, I was successful with the wireless hook-up – yay. Everything is cool with the laptop connecting – yay. BUT, what was the tedious and stress producing activity of the day (ALL day) was getting hubby’s new laptop primed and set up for his use.

I don’t know how you laptop users get accustomed to that freakin’ pad/mouse business. It’s a pain in the ass if you ask me, and first thing tomorrow, I’m buying a good ol’ mousey for it. I don’t have the patience or the time to fart around with getting the little arrow “just so” in order to open what I want opened, and not every other window that I don’t want. Ya, ya, “you’ll get used to it…” — don’t wanna.

ANYway, as much as hubby has obtained a fairly decent knowledge of the computer now, he’s still quite a novice and just can’t grasp the fact that a computer can’t do ALL things by itself. So when his import file “Wizard” keeps telling me that his exported bookmark.htm is not a valid bookmark file, I don’t know what else the hell to do about it. Of course then *I* am the one who’s doing something wrong. Maybe I am, but at 12:00 a.m. I can’t deal with it any longer.. especially since now hubby is frustrated and pissed off about it. bah!

I’m also a little disappointed that I didn’t get to work on my redesign of Ink2Art today, which I’ve been putting off to work on client stuff.. ya, boo-hoo, poor me.

geeesh, maybe I should just go to bed and start over again tomorrow, especially since we lost an hour tonite with daylight savings time. Yay, spring ahead! Then again, I’m too hyper to go to bed… ok, you convinced me. I’m going to play with Ink2Art now.

Speaking of, you know that actress site I was working on? H-e-r-e’s Norma! Fun.

Alrighty – later guys.

just one more thing

March 29, 2006 4 Comments

Do you ever say to yourself, “ok, I’ll just do this one more thing, THEN I’ll take a break… or, I’ll just finish this part, then I’ll pee.”

Good grief, I only have to go about 8 ft away to the bathroom, but I put it off. Same with doing “one more thing.” I am extremely tired right now, and I’ve been telling myself that I was going to rest my eyeballs for a few minutes… after I do this, then after I do that. And you know, the longer I sit here, the more things keep coming!

Gotta stop right now, k?
