No more beans…

November 24, 2009 5 Comments

beansI am crushed. It’s a sad, sad day… my staple (besides yogurt), my Imperial Edamame Beans are no longer sold at Sam’s Club. My 4 lb box containing 8 perfect sized bowls of podded beans is nowhere to be found.

Seriously, at 99 cals & about 8 gms of protein, they were the ideal snack-a-rooni. Now what? I used to get about 4 boxes a month. Dagnabbit.

Oh well. I shall survive… just barely, but I’ll try.

On another note – Windows 7. Mumsy bought a new pc and other than setting up the basics, I could have played with the new OS much much longer! Very cool at first glance. I don’t know about from a working standpoint, but the shininess and newness was pretty slick. Personally, I won’t convert until I get a new pc entirely. I’ll be due in about 6 mths or so. Just the tower. The memory available now blows my mind. And I thought I was pretty hot stuff 3 yrs ago with 4 megs of RAM… ahhh, technology.

And finally – painting colors & my prints. Since we’re remodeling Jennie’s old room into a guest room, I am once again tormented by what color to paint the walls. Seems pretty cut n’ dried – all neutral-ish except for one wall. The main “gallery” wall that I plan on hanging my Shag prints. I think I have 3 or 4 (yes, you know me & prints), but with all of the vibrant colors that he uses, I’m trying to remember which ones I have and of which “color scheme” they are. Actually, I think I have an orangey-pink-red one as well as an all-around blue, teal, greenish one, so I think it will be pretty much a crap shoot what color I paint the wall. Maybe a limey-but-not-blinding greenish… it’s a very bright room… we shall see. I’ll surprise us, k?

Alritey, time to make the donuts… OH, and if I don’t see you, have a marvelous Thanksgiving!!

Beaded curtains, ooo-la-la

August 5, 2009 Leave a Comment

Kitty OfficeOooo, ooo, I just had a blinding idea—literally! One of my office windows is above me and to the right, facing west. In the afternoon, the sun gets pretty bright (and hot) when it’s directly on top of me. Sooo, what I thought would be really cool(er) is to hang some sort of beaded curtain… one that would still let the air blow around & in & out, as well as allow the light in, just not blinding sun beams in my face (yes, I know I may be deserving of the ethereal glow/halo, but it does get pretty warm).

And I’m sooo excited because there are mucho web sites that sell such things, more shapes & colors & glittery-goodness than I could imagine! Yippeee! Yes, I imagine certain styles may reflect even more light, but can you just picture how colorful & reflective they would be? Now I just have to decide which ones to get.

But later… must finish working… yes, later. See how I get off on tangents??

**couple days later here**
I think I’ve found the ones I want , but they’re out of stock (of course). Will have some in a week or so… And they’re really easy to cut & make them thicker, more dense. Look how easy… yippeee!

I want to decorate for real

August 4, 2009 Leave a Comment

What I mean is that I am really in the mood to move around on my feet and carry big pieces back and forth, use a hammer and nails, shove furniture around and sweat. To loud music. I want to get physical (yes, I hear the song now too). But alas, I can’t. Realistically.

  • I need to do it when no one else is around. You know how that is, don’t you? I don’t want DIL sitting there watching every move I make the entire time.
  • Money. A big part of what I want to do is hang some of my prints. But I can’t afford to get them framed (still).
  • Work. See above. I need to work to get the money to buy the frames.
  • Money. Yes, this is a big one so I listed it twice.

Ever since we remodeled our home (the living room version on Flickr) I still have not done anything else to the room(s). There is something weird about that to me. But, it is what it is. I will someday.

But what I seriously need to do is go upstairs and take inventory of all of my prints. I’m a little nervous about the Mark Ryden print and whether it’s ok having been in the same packaging for the last… 5 (?) years. Nope, never even opened it. :::sigh:::

OH well. Such is life. I get this way every couple of months. It will pass. I think the reason for my current feelings is that we’re planning on having the house re-sided, so I’ve been looking around at photos of siding. I want to get the scalloped siding on the dormers, you know, like a gingerbread house. Then the colors. Colorsolorscolors. Of course hubby will have a pretty big say on this one. The inside of the house was pretty carte blanche for me, but the outside is more his baby, ya know?

Hey, I gotta go… what the hell, it’s 10:00 already! The day is half over!!

dirty little secret

August 21, 2008 Leave a Comment

My junk drawerSince our kitchen was remodeled, and now the rest of the house, I have been the model 50s housewife. Well, let’s just say that I clean now. More so than I have for the last 10 yrs. Heck, more so than when my daughter was a baby… when I was a stay-at-home mom. When I was still a guilty Catholic. I’m proud of myself. My home is really clean. Except for one little drawer. No, not really a junk drawer as I knew it before. But it’s still my dirty little secret. It’s where I store my coffee bags before I grind the beans. In fact, hubby actually gets peeved when there’s some coffee dust in the corners of the drawer.

Currently I am out of coffee (beans, NOT ground). But not for long. I even have to go grocery shopping today – imagine that! So of course I’ll make a coffee run.

But first I must vacuum. Yes indeedy. Thursday is vacuum day.
(no, I’m not that 50s, geesh, are you serious? ya, and I have my Thursday underwear on too)

Living Room, Mark Ryden n’ stuff

July 14, 2008 1 Comment

Latest installment – living room is essentially done other than the fun stuff. Well, it used to be fun to buy decor for the house, but that was before I had to do it on a grand scale. “Grand” as in coordinating colors and style and an overall change. I never thought I’d have a problem deciding on these things… hey, I’m an artist, aren’t I? Shouldn’t I be able to visualize everything and know exactly what I want? That is so far from how it really is! dang.

But anyway. That’s the way it is – I’ll get it together eventually.

I just got a notice from Porterhouse Art – the Mark Ryden publishers etc., that he has a little storybook coming out next week that he wrote with Marion Peck. What’s funny though, is the little film that they did. I must show you. What I like about it is the “song” part of it. Makes me smile.

I’m going to see if I can stick the video in here, k? OH, wanna see the LR pics?

*ok, forget the video, but you really should check it out… if you want to of course.  :)

part 2 – ceiling done

July 1, 2008 2 Comments

First of all, I just have to say how much I abhor those Snap tool tip things that seem to be proliferating all over the place (still!). Ugh. Just stop already.

Besides that obnoxiousness, our ceiling/living room is finished – yay. Check it out. Now we just have to put stuff back. After the carpeting next week. blahblah… I don’t really feel like talking about it any longer. dang, just realized how incredibly tired I am. *poof*
