Thanksgiving Sunday

November 30, 2008 4 Comments

Jennie & BrianToday is our Thanksgiving Day and for some reason, I’m kinda nervous about co-ordinating the cooking to have everything ready in sync. It just dawned on me that it’s probably because for the last 3-4 years I’ve been baking the turkey the day before so that all I have to do on Turkey-Day is the “other” stuff since the bird is all nicely sliced and ready to heat up.

Yup, this is the first year we had to adapt to the “other family” situation Jennie’s boyfriend’s family who lives out of state got Thanksgiving Day this year. Aren’t they c-u-u-ute?

I’m sure everything will be fine food-wise, I just don’t like feeling stressed about cooking a darn turkey…

In fact I think I’m supposed to be doing something right now… like, making the stuffing or pulling the gizzards out or some darn thing.

Did I tell you the very first time I had Thanksgiving at my house (many many moons ago) I left everything inside the bird? I didn’t know that they stuffed the “head” area with bags of things. It turned out fine though, just as this one will.

So Happy Thanksgiving Sunday everyone!

Most importantly, I wish you all a very very loving Thanksgiving Day. It’s easy for me to be extremely thankful for so many parts of my life right now.

Enjoy your day everyone.

To my artsy-crafty visitors

November 16, 2008 6 Comments

I just finished a site, the International Fiber Collaborative, whose founder – Jennifer Marsh – covered an entire abandoned gas station with fiber-ish panels submitted from people all over the world. It’s kind of hard to describe, you’ll have to go n’ see, BUT now she has another project in the works where she’s asking for *leaves*. The plan is to build a huge tree with about 30,000 leaves from artists, crafters, kids, teachers… it’s pretty amazing.

So the reason I’m mentioning this is because I know that many of you *do* this sort of thing, you know, fiber, artsy-crafty stuff. Just go see what I’m talking about – when you see the pics and read the press etc, it will make more sense.

Yay Packers!!

After the one-liners, anything else I write seems contrived.

so nevermind.

For some reason I’m comparing my use of Facebook to how I do many things in my life – kind of middle-of-the-road-ish. It’s short and sweet but there’s still room for a bit more, as opposed to the extreme brevity of Twitter (no, I still do not like), to the all, out n’ out singular blather in here.

So ya. That’s where I utter the occassional profound revelations these days. It suits me well.
